One of the finest Tenors of his generation, most recent highlights for the Finnish Artist include his debut at the Metropolitan Opera as BORIS Katya Kabanova, ZIVNY Osud at the Vienna Staatsoper, ERIK Flying Dutchman in Bilbao and HAUPTMANN Wozzeck at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Other recent appearances of note include LACA Jenufa and SHUISKY Boris Godunov at the Staatsoper Wien, STEVA Jenufa at the Metropolitan Opera and FLORESTAN Fidelio for Opera National du Rhin, Strasbourg.

He has consolidated his international career with interpretations of roles such as LEUKIPPOS Daphne and PETER GRIMES at the Finnish National Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, JENIK The Bartered Bride and MANOLIOS The Greek Passion at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as well as MAX Der Freischütz at both the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and the Hamburgische Staatsoper. In 2006 he returned to Bayreuth as ERIK Der fliegende Holländer, a role he also performed at the Teatro Regio Torino, the Teatro Comunale Bologna and in Reggio Emilia, and perhaps most notably at the Staatsoper Berlin, conducted by Daniel Barenboim.
Most recent successes include his role-debut as ALWA Lulu at the Staatsoper Wien, and as LACA Jenufa at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, where he also created the role of RUDOLPH FRANZ HOSS in Sophie’s Choice, a new creation by Nicholas Maw. He returned to The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in a critically-acclaimed role-debut as SIEGMUND in Keith Warner’s production of Walküre.
A busy future schedule includes Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in New York, Peter Grimes in Antwerp and Boris Godunov and Jenufa in Vienna.
