Scott Wilde completed his musical studies in New York at the Juilliard School. Early engagements took the bass to many opera houses in the United States, including San Francisco Opera, New York City Opera, Washington Opera, Baltimore Opera and Opera Theater of St Louis, were he performed a large repertoire of roles.
He then went on to make his European debut at the Dublin Grand Opera as COMMENDATORE Don Giovanni. The next season he made his Spanish debut as SARASTRO Die Zauberflöte at El Teatro Principal de Palma de Mallorca. For the next four seasons he remained in Europe for an engagement with Semperoper Dresden where he has performed many different roles including both SARASTRO and SPRECHER Die Zauberflöte, COMMENDATORE, EREMIT Der Freischütz, DER HOLSTEINER Friedenstag, HOBSON Peter Grimes, TRUFFALDINO Ariadne auf Naxos, TOM Un Ballo in maschera, PISTOLA Falstaff and IL RE Aida. He has returned to San Francisco Opera as SPRECHER, ABIMELECH Samson et Dalila, HANS FOLTZ Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and to Semperoper Dresden as TOM Un Ballo in maschera. In June 2001 he appeared in the world premiere of Medea by Rolf Liebermann at the Stadttheater Bern, singing the role of JASON.
Recent engagements include MARKE Tristan und Isolde for Opera de Tours, ERSTER SOLDAT Salome (Mariotte) Radio France Festival, LE VALLET, ALLORO and LE PRESIDENT DU TRIBUNAL in the world premiere of Perela, Il uomo di fumo (Dusapin), DER EINARMIGE Die Frau Ohne Schatten, ZWEITER SOLDAT Salome and HANS SCHWARZ Meistersinger at the Opéra National de Paris, MAYOR Jenufa, DER PFLEGER DES OREST Elektra and HANS FOLTZ at Theatre du Capitole de Toulouse, KUNO Der Freischütz and Perela at L’Opéra National de Montpellier, DON ESTOBAN Der Zwerg at Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, ZWEITER GEHARNISCHTER Die Zauberflöte, ALTER DIENER Elektra, ERSTER SOLDAT Salome with Opera National de Paris, DER EINARMIGE at the Teatro Real, Madrid, REINMAR Tannhäuser with L’Opéra de Genève and currently HEROD in Mariotte’s SALOME at Opera National de Montpellier.
