Renato Girolami Baritone
The Baritone, Renato Girolami was born in Italy and studied singing in Rome with Sesto Bruscantini, at the Munich Musikhochschule with Ernst Haefliger, and participated in master-classes in Berlin with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. He began his career in Passau and Salzburg, winning particular acclaim for his performances as Leporello in Salzburg, a success which led to his engagement at the Vienna Volksoper. He was a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble from 1991 to 1996 where he performed a wide operatic repertoire including; Mozart’s Figaro, and Leporello, which he both recorded for Naxos, Donizetti’s Dulcamara and Belcore, Rossini’s Bartolo and Taddeo, and Verdi’s Melitone. Since 1997 Mr Girolami has worked freelance. His concert Repertoire ranges from the early Baroque, (Monteverdi, Schütz, Scarlatti, and Bach ) to the late German Romantic (Mendelssohn’s “Walpurgis Nacht”). He has worked with famous stage directors such as; Achim Freyer, Joachim Herz, Johannes Schaaf, Chrisof Loy, Claus Guth, Marco Arturo Marelli…and with conductors such as; Stefan Soltesz, Bruno Campanella, Donald Runnicles, Leopold Hager, Gabriele Ferro, Marcello Viotti, and Riccardo Muti.

From 1991 to 1996 he was a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble where he sang parts like LEPORELLO, FIGARO/Le Nozze di Figaro, GUGLIELMO/Così fan tutte, BELCORE and DULCAMRA/L’Elisir d’Amore, BARTOLO/Il Barbiere di Siviglia, DON MAGNIFICO/La Cenerentola, TADDEO/L’Italiana in Algeri, FRA MELITONE/La Forza del Destino, SCHAUNARD/La Bohème, SHARPLESS/Madama Butterfly and BELFIORE/Un giorno di Regno.
Other roles in his repertoire include DON PASQUALE, MUSTAFA/L’Italiana in Algeri, GERMONT/La Traviata, MARCELLO/La Bohème, DR. FALKE/Die Fledermaus and CLAUDIO/Agrippina (Händel)
Since 1997 he has been working freelance. International guest appearances include Opéra du Rhin Strabourg, Schwetzinger Festspiele, Aalto Theater Essen, Oper Zürich, Staatsoper Hamburg, Opéra de Marseille, Staatstheater Stuttgart, New Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, Semperoper Dresden, Händel Festival in Karlsruhe, Oslo Opera, Theater St.Gallen, Schönbrunn Festival Vienna, Teatro La Fenice, Venice, Opera Houses in Cagliari, Napoli, Bari, Jesi and Ascoli as well as Ovideo, Tokio, Sao Paolo and Santiago di Chile.
CD recordings include FIGARO and LEPORELLO for NAXOS and Uberto/La Serva Padrona and Tracollo/Livietta e Tracollo for BONGIOVANNI.
