With most recent and future engagements including ADINA L’elisir d’amore for WNO, FOREIGN PRINCESS Rusalka for English Touring Opera and 1ste DAME, FIORDILIGI Cosi fan tutte and DONNA ANNA Don Giovanni - all for WNO, Camilla Roberts is building a strong reputation as a versatile and captivating artist.
From 2003-2004 Camilla was an Associate Artist at Welsh National Opera where her roles include MICAELA Carmen, ADINA L’elisir d’amore, DIANE Iphigenie en Tauride, BLUMENMÄDCHEN Parsifal and the title role Iolanta and LAURA Iolanta, also performed at the BBC Proms 2005. Other roles include ANNA Nabucco for Opera North, TATYANA Eugene Onegin for Opera Holland Park, MARENKA The Bartered Bride, MIMI La Boheme for Mid Wales Opera and ANNA Le Villi for Chelsea Opera Group.
In addition to roles performed she has covered DONNA ANNA Don Giovanni, CONTESSA Le Nozze di Figaro (all for Glyndebourne), the title role Katya Kabanova for Opera North and LISA Pique Dame for Welsh National Opera. Recordings include ANNA Nabucco for Chandos, a CD of Viennese Arias with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the role of ISABELLA in Ricci’s Corrado D’Altamura for Opera Rara. Camilla has also appeared on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night.
Concert highlights include Beethoven’s Symphony No 9 at the Barbican Hall under David Parry, Rossini Stabat Mater at St Endellion Festival under Richard Hickox, Mendelssohn’s Elijah with Sir Willard White at the Philharmonic Hall Liverpool and Verdi’s Requiem at the Caird Hall Dundee with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera. Camilla has also appeared as a soloist in concerts promoted by Raymond Gubbay at Symphony Hall Birmingham, Bridgewater Hall Manchester and The Royal Albert Hall. She has also performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, St John’s Smith Square London and at St David’s Hall Cardiff. On the Recital platform, Camilla has performed at the Cheltenham International Festival of Music, North Wales International Music Festival, Fishguard Festival and most recently a recital of English song in Milan.
In June 2005 Camilla Roberts represented Wales in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. Other awards include the inaugural Kenneth Loveland Gift, the Harold Rosenthal Award and the WNO Chris Ball Bursary. Camilla Roberts was born in Wrexham, North Wales., trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Laura Sarti and graduated from the GSMD Opera Course in 2002. Camilla went on to the National Opera Studio sponsored by Welsh National Opera.
