Renowned as one of Italy’s leading sopranos, Patrizia Biccirè’s performances represent some of the most memorable in recent times, with most recent highlights including the role of MARGUERITE Faust at the Teatro São Carlos in Lisbon, and ELETTRA Idomeneo at the Teatro Regio di Torino in 2010, directed by Davide Livermore.

Born in Porto San Giorgio, she graduated from the Conservatorio Rossini in Pesaro, going on to study at the Academia Rossiniana. Her debut in 1992 at the Rossini Opera Festival, as GIULIA La Scala di Seta, led to invitations to sing throughout Europe with many of the world’s most significant conductors, including Riccardo Muti, Philippe Herreweghe, Antonio Pappano and Maurizio Benini. She made her Glyndebourne Festival debut in 1999 as ZERLINA Don Giovanni, conducted by Sir Andrew Davis, and other particular highlights from this period included GIULIETTA in Bellini’s I Capuletti e i Montecchi for Den Norske Opera, NANNETTA Falstaff at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, a new production of La Pietra di Paragone for both the Rossini Festival and Opéra de Monte Carlo, L’incoronazione di Poppea at Bologna, and NANNETTA Falstaff at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, Brussels, where she teamed up once again with Antonio Pappano.
Other significant appearances have included ROSINA Il Barbiere di Siviglia for the Théâtre du Capitole, FIORILLA Il Turco in Italia for the Grand Théâtre de Genève and the Vienna Volksoper in 2003 – 2004, a highly-acclaimed SUSANNA Nozze di Figaro for Glyndebourne Festival, and SERPETTA Finta Giardiniera for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 2006, conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
Highlights of her extensive concert appearances have included Bellini’s Il Pirata, alongside Renée Fleming at the Théâtre du Châtelet, a tour with Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, in addition to appearances in Berio’s Folksongs in Spain. Her discography includes La Rondine for EMI Classics, and Pia de’ Tolomei for Opera Rara, conducted by David Parry.
