Representing the new generation of superb English countertenors, Owen Willetts can already boast highly-successful appearances with many of the finest conductors of Baroque and Period repertoire, including Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Laurence Cummings, Emmanuelle Haïm, Richard Egarr and Christian Curnyn.

Representing the new generation of superb English countertenors, Owen Willetts can already boast highly-successful appearances with many of the finest conductors of Baroque and Period repertoire, including Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Laurence Cummings, Emmanuelle Haïm, Richard Egarr and Christian Curnyn.

Owen has given solo recitals at the Sligo Baroque Festival, the Belfast BBC Arts Festival, the Lichfield Arts Festival, the London Handel Festival, in the National Portrait Gallery, London and in St Martin in the Fields, London. With the Irish Baroque Orchestra Owen has performed Bach's St. John Passion and both the Vivaldi and the Pergolesi Stabat Mater.

Most recently Owen took part in Purcell's The Fairy Queen with Emmanuelle Haïm and Le Concert d'Astrée which toured in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. The Irish Times said of this performance; 'Creating some splendid resonances of his own was countertenor Owen Willetts, whose falsetto was no less impressive for its sumptuous low notes than for its ringing high ones. He showed an innate sense of the music's style, both as soloist in the Vivaldi and in duet in the Pergolesi...' On the opera stage Owen has performed the role of OTTONE in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea with Laurence Cummings at both the Royal Academy Opera and Rekjavik Summer Opera.

He sang ANFINOMOUS and L’HUMANA FRAGILITA’ Il ritorno d’Ulisse, directed by Graham Vick and the Birmingham Opera Company and was SATIRINO in Cavalli's La Calisto for the Iford Festival with Christian Curnyn and the Early Opera Company. Owen has covered the role of THE INNOCENT in Harrison Birtwistle's new opera The Minotaur at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, SATIRINO in Cavalli's La Calisto, also at Covent Garden; PASTORE UNO for Emmanuelle Haïm in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo and the role of OTTONE in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea at Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Owen recently sang a concert of Handel and Purcell duets and arias with James Bowman and the baroque ensemble Canzona. Future projects include the title tole in ORLANDO in Halle.
