Toby Girling Baritone

Toby Girling is fast gaining attention as a talented and versatile young artist. His most recent appearance was as ARTHUR JONES in Glyndebourne's acclaimed 2010 festival production of Billy Budd, conducted by Sir Mark Elder and directed by Michael Grandage. His next two appearances will be in the Iford Festival production of Rigoletto, and Don Carlo at Frankfurt Opera where he is going to become a member of the Opera Studio.

His next two appearances will be in the Iford Festival production of Rigoletto, and Don Carlo at Frankfurt Opera where he has just become a member of the Opera Studio.

Born in London, Toby is a recent graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In September 2010 he will join the highly prestigious Frankfurt Opera Studio while continuing to study with Robert Dean in London.

Previous roles include the NARRATOR in Conor Mitchell's The Musician at the Belfast Festival, DANCAIRE in Carmen for Swindon Opera, and AENEAS in Dido and Aeneas. He has given recitals at Binham Priory, the Balcony, Burnham Market, and the Auden Theatre, Holt, and has performed regularly in oratorio. On Radio 4 he was a soloist in Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb, and performed the world premier of a lost song by Britten for a BBC television documentary.
